Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Q: Is imagery the same as hypnosis?
A: The short answer is no. Imagery uses sensory rich, internal visualization as an active, self-directed process where you control the internal scene.
In hypnosis you are typically more passive, relying on the external words and suggestions of the operator to influence your subconscious.
Q: Is there a difference between the subconscious and the unconscious?
A: The short answer is yes, although the two words are often used interchangeably. Unless we are mental health professionals, it isn't absolutely crucial to differentiate.
That said, the word "subconscious" refers to a layer of the mind that is just below the surface of consciousness and therefore more readily accessible than the deeper layers of the unconscious - which is the purview of mental health professionals.
Creating an image
Q: How do I create and image?
A: You can learn to create powerful, inner images that will
carry your intention directly to the subconscious mind, using
any or all of your senses. These mental images are literal
messages to your subconscious about what you truly
want, and they are your tool for gaining its cooperation.
Spontaneous images
Q: What is a spontaneous image?
A: Some people have spontaneous images, others don't - or at
least they haven't yet learned how to perceive them by using their own senses. These images are clues to what is going on beneath the surface of consciousness. They may not be strictly visual.
