Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Q: Is imagery the same as hypnosis?
A: The short answer is no. Imagery uses sensory rich
visualization as an active, self-directed process where you
control the internal scene.
In hypnosis you are typically more passive, relying on the
external words and suggestions of the operator to influence
your subconscious.
Q: Is there a difference between the subconscious and the
unconscious?
A: There is, although the two words are often used
interchangeably. The word "subconscious" refers to a layer of
the mind that is just below the surface of consciousness and
therefore more readily accessible than the deeper layers of
the unconscious - which we leave to the mental health
professionals.
Creating an image
Q: How do I create an image?
A: Images are created using thought and the imagination.
You can learn to create powerful, inner images that will carry
your intention directly to the subconscious mind, using all the
senses. These mental images are literal messages to your
subconscious about what you truly want, and they are your
tool for gaining its cooperation.
Spontaneous images
Q: What is a spontaneous image?
A: Spontaneous images are clues to what
is going on beneath the surface of your consciousness.
They are not necessarily visual because images can be
perceived with all the senses. They come up to show us
something we may need to know about ourselves, but that
is hidden from everyday waking consciousness.
